Restauranteur Sébastien Foulard shows us his favorite parts of Paris

Where to go in the French capital when you've already hit up all of the tourist hotspots (twice).

The one thing you’ll never have to worry about when visiting the City of Lights? Not having more than enough cool places to go/see/do. But when you’re spoiled for choice, there’s something to be said about culling recommendations from an in-the-know insider. As such, we got restaurant owner Sébastien Foulard to divulge his favorite quartier, his go-to cafe, and the perfect park in Paris.

My favorite district is…

Montorgueil in the 2nd arrondissement — a large part of the cosmopolitan complexity of Paris is concentrated here. The heart of the district looks like a village, the people are nice, there are many restaurants and bars, the nightlife is intense, and there are new openings every month.

It’s also the neighborhood where I work, being the happy co-owner of Jefrey’s Cocktail Bar, where we imagine technical craft cocktails coupled with creative experiences.

I find inspiration…

On the streets at the merchants who open early (before the rest of the neighborhood rises), and in many of the stunning street art works.

My urban oasis is…

Le Parc des Buttes-Chaumont in the 19th district. Just me + a good book + a bottle of wine = a perfectly lazy afternoon spent lounging.

1 Rue Botzaris, 75019 Paris

The best place to watch people is…

Café La Perle in Le Marais. Grab a seat on the terrace and order a drink; prepare to watch a parade of stylish fashionistas and bearded hipsters stroll by.

78 Rue Vieille du Temple, 75003 Paris, @cafelaperle

— Le Jardin du Palais Royal and Les Jardins du Louvre are the most photogenic places in Paris.

When you want to work remotely…

Grab your laptop and head over to Wild & The Moon, where they have everything you need to get you through the day — a perfect coffee range, vegetable-based drinks, fresh juices, and gluten-free dishes.

55 Rue Charlot, 75003 Paris, @wildandthemoon

When you want to relax…

Unwind after a hard day of work at the bar of the Experimental Cocktail Club. I recommend ordering a local beer and a mezcal Negroni cocktail.

37 Rue Saint-Sauveur, 75002 Paris, @experimentalcocktailclubparis

When you want to hear live music…

Restaurant slash nightclub Le Duc des Lombards is the best place to hear live jazz tunes.

42 Rue des Lombards, 75001 Paris, @ducdeslombards

When you want to hang out with locals…

Long-established locals hang out at La Tour Montlhéry — Chez Denise, one of the oldest restaurants in Paris. They serve large portions of authentic French cuisine, they haven’t changed the decor in decades, and they’re open until late — 5 a.m.

5 Rue des Prouvaires, 75001 Paris

When you want to watch the most beautiful sunset…

The best spot is along the banks of the Seine River, between Le Pont Neuf and Le Pont des Arts pedestrian bridges. Grab some friends and have a picnic!
