PEOPLE OF NEUBAU: EVA REISINGER
NEUBAU EYEWEAR isn’t your typical anonymous label but a familiar brand with different faces and real stories to tell.
With a vision to fuse creativity, sustainability and style, NEUBAU is a reflection of the creative minds and makers behind the brand. In this series, we put a lens on the people of NEUBAU and reveal the actual lives behind the brand.
Stories about the love for high quality, strong design, innovation as well as personal experiences in Vienna’s Neubau district and latest discoveries in their neighborhood. Frame of Mind wants to introduce the people that make everything happen. An inside view of what’s happening behind the scenes. The fifth one in this series is Eva Reisinger.
She studied design and product management and has been with NEUBAU EYEWEAR right from the beginning, currently strengthening our team with her expertise as Senior Marketing Manager. Eva is a real nature and mountain lover with an interest in modern art and craftsmanship. Her passion for Latin American culture arises from the time she lived in Argentina after her school years.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR JOB AT NEUBAU?
My job as marketing manager is very versatile which makes it exciting every day. As we’re a small team everyone has key topics but jumps in wherever needed. My main tasks are setting up the general marketing strategy and yearly marketing plan aligned to our product launches, planning and executing campaign shootings and doing press work and normally planning (press) events, if there is no pandemic going on. My work is mostly creative (besides budget planning, haha). It acquires love for fashion and design, words and communication. Normally I also get to travel a lot and meet new exciting people from other brands we work with, to journalists, influencers and opticians.
WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR FREE TIME TO SWITCH OFF?
I love nature, mountains, lakes and the woods… In Austria we’re lucky to be rich with all of these wonders. I need to get outside the city regularly or visit my family in the countryside. I like to go hiking or skiing and breathe in the fresh air.
A WORD THAT BEST DESCRIBES YOUR CAREER SO FAR:
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE DEVELOPMENT OF NEUBAU?
Exciting! I started as an an intern when the brand was in the pipeline I had the chance to watch and be part of every step the brand took so far: from creating the brand name, and it’s whole identity, the first campaign, the first international fair till our latest big step: becoming an own entity. NEUBAU is constantly evolving and I’m already looking forward to what’s to come.
WHAT IS YOUR RELATIONSHIP TO VIENNA? WHAT DO YOU ESPECIALLY LIKE?
Vienna – since January 2021 I can finally call it my hometown! It was named “City With Highest Quality of Life“ 10 times in a row for a reason. It has so many beautiful (historic) buildings and parks where you can relax in the midst of a multinational city and compared to other big cities like London it still feels familiar.Of course, I really enjoy hanging around in the Neubau district, which is known as the young and vibrant quarter of Vienna and was name giving for our brand NEUBAU EYEWEAR. You find something new and inspiring every time you go there, from small galleries, to evolving sustainable fashion brands or creative artists.
Name your 3 favorite spots in the Neubau district.
That is a difficult one! There are a lot of spots and especially international restaurants or cafes I love to visit regularly.
- I´d say the MuseumsQuartier is still one of my favourite spots. It’s a beautiful square surrounded by the MUMOK (museum of modern art), the Leopold museum and historic buildings which give the place it´s special flair. I like to hang out on the “Enzis” https://enzis.at/ with friends or visit events: from concerts, design markets, art exhibitions to public readings you can experience everything there.
- Secondly, I really like to stroll along Burggasse. It’s a street full of cool bars, vintage stores and fancy Viennese cafes. One of my favourites at the moment is the “Adlerhof”. https://www.adlerhof.wien/
- Last, but definitely not least: everyone who knows me is aware of my ice cream addiction. ;-) If you are around the 7th district you have to enjoy ice cream from Gelateria La Romana and try “Pesto di pistacchio” or “Bacio di dama”. https://www.gelateriaromana.com/de/43-eisdielen-wien.php
If you had to wear one frame for the rest of your life – what style would you choose and why?
I´d choose Barbara in black or any other similar cat eye shape. I like the extravagant vintage touch.
Besides glasses – which accessory is vital for you?
Earrings — never without them! Big ones, small ones, mostly golden ones, but also more trendy ones in bold colors.
What is your suggestion to live a more sustainable yet stylish lifestyle?
Inform yourself about your favourite brands: where and how are they producing and which materials are they using? Be critical about marketing messages and don’t believe everything you read on a tag. Try to support local, small boutiques and labels. And most importantly as Vivian Westwood once said “Buy less, choose well, make it last.”.
CURRENT FRAME OF MIND…
Curiosity! So much changed in the past year and still is changing. This crisis hit many of us hard, but it also opened new doors and possibilities. I’m curious how things will develop in the world and for NEUBAU.
